How to split a PDF

One big PDF isn't always what you want to send. Maybe each chapter should be its own file, or you just need pages 1–3 to email to someone. Splitting a PDF breaks it into smaller files — here's how to do it for free, without uploading anything.

Split PDF — free & private

Runs in your browser. No uploads, no sign-up, no watermarks.

Step by step

  1. Open the Split PDF tool. Go to the Split PDF page and add your PDF.
  2. Choose how to split. Either split every page into its own separate PDF, or enter the page ranges you want as individual files.
  3. Split and download. Click split, and your new files download — bundled into a ZIP when there's more than one.

Two ways to split

  • Every page separately: a 12-page PDF becomes 12 single-page PDFs. Great for splitting a batch of scanned documents.
  • By range: pull out specific sections — for example pages 1–3 as one file and 4–10 as another.

Split, extract or remove — which do I need?

Use Split to break a PDF into multiple files. If you only need a few pages pulled into one new file, Extract Pages is simpler. And if you just want to drop a few unwanted pages, use Remove Pages.

Is it private?

Yes. The split happens entirely in your browser — your PDF is never uploaded, so it's safe for sensitive documents.
